Blue

Ground-up condominium tower, Norfolk Street

A sixteen-story condominium tower on the Lower East Side, developed and built by Angelo Cosentini and Paul Reehling to a design by Bernard Tschumi Architects. The pixelated blue glass envelope folds and leans to follow the zoning envelope, cantilevering over the low tenement rooflines on either side. The pattern is made of clear vision glass and opaque panels that wrap the concrete superstructure; from inside, every apartment reads as one blue, with angled walls and floor-to-ceiling glass shaped by the geometry.
