Prewar apartment, gut renovation

A gut renovation of a prewar apartment on the Upper West Side. New paneling, coffered ceilings, and dentil cornices were built throughout, with the ceilings and trim picked out in a soft rose. A glazed door in the same color opens onto a compact kitchen with vertical-plank oak cabinetry, a checkerboard marble floor, and unlacquered brass; a curved banquette tucks under the living room window, and the bath is lined in Carrara with a brass washstand and a view over the rooftops.
